Overview
This guide explains how to handle team admin access when a coach leaves your school or organization. We recommend that athletic administrators are always admins of sportsYou teams (in addition to coaches). It makes handoffs in the platform much easier.
How to Hand Off Admin Access
First, remove the previous coach: In the Members tab, a current admin can click the three dots beside the coach's name and select Remove from Team.
Second, regenerate the team QR code: A current admin should regenerate the team code. This invalidates the old join link so previous coaching staff can't rejoin.
Third, add the new coach as an admin: A current admin can invite the new coach to join the Team/Group, then grant admin rights using the three dots beside their name.
If There Are No Other Admins
For security reasons, we're unable to grant admin rights to someone who isn't already a member of the team. In this case, you have two options:
Delete the team and start fresh: If you don't need to preserve the team's existing posts and media, the team can be deleted and the new coach can create a new one. Note that deletion is permanent and all team content will be lost.
Contact Support: If preserving the team is important, a school administrator (such as an AD or Principal) can reach out to the support team to request admin rights.
⚠️ Important: For security reasons, sportsYou can only process requests initiated by a school administrator. Coaches and other team members must have their AD reach out to Support on their behalf.
